Ketchikan

after 2 nights on the boat we got off in Ketchikan at about 8 in the morning and waved goodbye to the friends we made. Not really but it sounds good, right? Actually we did hang out with a Harley rider named Mike that was living the life. He's a retired Navy SEAL living in Missoula and adventuring from there. He's almost ready to make the jump to BMW world so he could be as cool as us. Let's hope his retirement pay can handle it.

We immediately prioritized our necessary activities and went in search of a place for breakfast instead of fixing Mark's bike. Then we did a little sightseeing and then we went back to the ferry parking lot which just happened to be near an auto parts store.

Luckily there was a little flatbed pickup in the parking lot that had been abandoned some time ago that we used as a workbench. We put Mark's bike up on the center stand and proceeded to dismantle it piece by piece. Actually we just took the back wheel and brake caliper off so we could get at the suspected culprit, a little sensor wire that has an o-ring that got pinched after reinstalling during the 600 mile service at the dealership. I'll let Mark expound upon the inabilities of the BMW dealership.

We fixed the bike in no time flat unfortunately cuz I was having fun wrenching on someone else's bike in a nice warm, sunny spot.

We had parked next to the main road so we got noticed by a local GSA rider and his son. They made sure we had everything we needed and then proceeded to tour guide us the rest of the day with a ride to the end of the road and lunch and walk along the boardwalk and pie and coffee on a deck overlooking the water. I think it was in repayment of bringing a beautiful day of sunshine to a place that gets 300 days a year of rain. Or it could've been that he was fellow bmw rider or maybe he was just a nice guy just helping out fellow beings. Yeah, probably the second one.

Let's see...

Dans late, then Marks late making Dan on time, but that's still not OK.

Iven takes too many pictures, then Dan's impatient (how can the late guy be impatient? or maybe he wasn't late).

Seattle traffic, gear oil leak, toolkit issues, Mark's "cheap" bike, bad dealer.

Crummy cruise ship, BMW's too expensive, met a nice guy, but you can't admit that not all people suck.

Too bad you are having such a lousy time :-) Or, maybe you like complaining and are enjoying yourself?

At least you didn't complain about the wind.

Some of us are actually working, well not really working, we are watching the sherpas use the under contruction PV array as a slip and slide.

Please continue having fun, however it is you have fun.
